grätzlhotel

Rebranding, Web Design, UX Design

So, before we talk about our new website for the Grätzl-Hotels, here’s a quick crash course in Viennese dialect: Grätzl are small neighborhoods within Vienna’s residential districts. Got it?

Now, the Grätzl-Hotels are a project by Urbanauts, where vacant storefronts are transformed into hotel rooms. This allows travelers to be integrated directly into the Grätzl, offering them an up-close and authentic experience of the city. Guests can choose from three different suite categories in four Viennese Grätzl. Near each Grätzl-Hotel are so-called Fellows, like bars, cafes, restaurants, and shops, allowing visitors to experience urban life just like locals.

Our approach was visually driven, as the website should provide a vivid picture of the city and the Grätzl even before the visit. Thus, the focus of the new website design was on presenting extensive imagery in an appealing manner.

This is clearly reflected in the use of large-format images designed to capture the unique atmosphere of each location. As part of the redesign, elements of the old branding were also revised, modernized, and incorporated as playful animations. This way, the website showcases exactly what the Grätzl-Hotels promise: exciting variety and authentic experiences, off the beaten path.
